here is a safe with a 5 digit No. The 4th digit is 4 greater than second digit, while 3rd digit is 3 less than 2nd digit. The 1st digit is thrice the last digit. There are 3 pairs whose sum is 11. Find the number.

and total of three pair is 11.
so if E=1 then A=3 and it must take 3 digit such that they make pair of 11. but it not possible.
So E=2.

9+2=11 so one of digit must be 9
or
6+5=11 so one of digit must be 5

Catherine is not the doctor or the chemist (since she's away at the moment), d. Therefore Catherine is the authot and Danny and Boonie are the doctor and the chemist.
3. The doctor was thinking that Boonie is a goofy name. Implies: Boonie is not the doctor (assuming he's not musing about his own name!), therefore Danny is the doctor and Boonie is the chemist

A, B = Black, Black => Since A did not guess, it means one of them(B,C) is atleast Black. So by this clue B should have guessed that he is Black.

Hence C is BLACK.
